The "Social-Engagement" label is an expression of corporate responsibility in the area of professional and social integration of people in special circumstances. By establishing the label, companies integrate the basic requirements for the challenges of the future in the area of human resources. They assume responsibility for social development and acquire know-how in the process-oriented, agile management of their organization. In addition, the "Social-Engagement" label forms a network of entrepreneurs who can jointly live and communicate an important, value-oriented position to customers and employees.

The 5 Label Standards for Business Enterprises

  • Standard 1: Person responsible for integration in the company (contact person)
  • Standard 2: Investment of at least 1% of turnover (e.g. in the form of time resources from the staffing plan) in internal integration support
  • Standard 3: Provide one integration position (without wage income) above and beyond the staffing plan per 30 employees
  • Standard 4: At least 3% of the staffing plan employment (with wage income) of people with integration needs / background
  • Standard 5: Communication of social commitment in the annual report, if applicable in the sustainability report, internal communications as well as on the website and, if applicable, social media

What social engagement offers for business enterprises

In addition to the label as a communication and reputation factor, the “Social-Engagement” label provides information, know-how and documentation on the topic of integration and advises the company together with the respective social practice organization on implementation and process design for successful integration. The platform of “Social-Engagement” communicates the partners of the network on the corresponding platforms (homepage and social media) as best-practice with experience reports.

In addition, the “Social-Engagement” label, in cooperation with DAS ZELT, launches an event once a year with a specific conference for network partners and interested parties. The aim is to bring the topic of integration and its challenges into focus, to inform the public about it, to strengthen the network and thereby create further synergies. The focus of the event is the presentation of the “Social-Engagement-Award”.

The 5 Label Standards for Social Practice Organizations

  • Standard 1: Concepts and service agreement with the public sector
  • Standard 2: Availability of at least 2.5 hours of specialist staff per person concerned for integration and company support (job coach)
  • Standard 3: Implementation of training events for business partners on the topic of integration as well as know-how transfer in integration programmes
  • Standard 4: At least 3% of the job plan employment (with wage income) of people with integration needs/background
  • Standard 5: Communication of the implemented integration programmes incl. economic partners in the annual report, internal communications as well as on the website and, if applicable, social media

What "social engagement" offers for social practice organizations

The label “Social-Engagement” connects organizations of social practice with socially engaged companies or supports organizations in building up their own networks of business enterprises that want to implement the standards of the label. The label provides documents, information, sample templates and sample concepts. These can be used or adapted as a basis for successful integration in cooperation with business enterprises. The label “Social-Engagement” also provides the organizations of social practice with PR material as well as general information on the topic of integration.

Furthermore, the label “Social-Engagement” supports organizations of social practice in the concept development of integration programs as well as in the related process design and quality assurance and development.

The path to the "Social Engagement" label

In order to obtain the “Social-Engagement” label, it is first and foremost necessary for a company or social practice organization to have the interest and ambition to commit itself to social sustainability and to recognize its benefits for the company and society.

Membership and thus obtaining the label is based on the following steps:

  1. Contact and expression of interest with a short motivation / intention for the label “Social-Engagement”.
  2. Submission of the required documents (presentation of the standards).
  3. Audit of “Social-Engagement” on site (approx. 2.5 h) with personal exchange.
  4. Examination of the company or organization and decision to meet the label standards (if necessary with conditions).
  5. Admission to the network of “Social-Engagement” and submission with corresponding communication materials.
  6. Annual submission/request of the annual report.
  7. Communication of the membership as well as the concrete commitments in the platforms of “Social-Engagement”.
  8. Recurring audit on application for verification of the label standards.
